Responsibilities / Tasks

1. General Role Purpose

  • Support project execution teams by providing specialized Manufacturing Execution System (MES) expertise across complex projects, including legacy systems, hybrid architectures, and new digital technologies.

  • Implement, integrate, and commission GEA Codex MES modules and third‑party MES solutions, depending on customer and project requirements.

  • Contribute to overall project delivery quality and ensure alignment with GEA automation and digitalization strategies.

2. Operational Responsibilities

MES Implementation & Integration

  • Execute MES implementations using GEA Codex Manufacturing Execution System and commercial MES platforms according to customer specifications.

  • Install, configure, validate, and commission MES software to ensure reliable industrial performance.

  • Develop integration with automation layers (PLC / SCADA), including legacy systems and multi‑vendor architectures.

  • Ensure MES solutions comply with: Customer specifications Functional descriptions Cybersecurity requirements GEA automation & digital standards

Testing, Troubleshooting & Commissioning

  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues during project execution.

  • Provide support during commissioning of MES-connected systems.

Technical Expertise & Non‑Standard Projects

  • Support complex or non-standard projects, providing specialized MES technical insight.

  • Act as a technical reference on MES topics for challenging architectures, new technologies, and deviations from standard solutions.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate closely with Automation Engineers, MES Architects, Product Teams, and wider project stakeholders.

  • Provide structured feedback to improve: MES roadmap Product evolution Internal best practices

Your Profile / Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.

    MES & Systems Integration Expertise

    • Hands-on experience with GEA Codex MES and/or other commercial MES platforms.
    • Proven experience in MES integration with automation systems and ERP interfaces.
    • Working knowledge of SQL databases, industrial data handling, and system connectivity.
    • Solid understanding of MES concepts, manufacturing workflows, and industrial processes.
    • Ability to navigate and work within complex system architectures, including legacy systems and multi‑vendor environments.
    • Exposure to innovation programs, standardization efforts, or cross‑project technical initiatives.

    Technical & Engineering Skills

    • Strong understanding of hygienic design principles relevant to industrial environments.
    • Familiarity with QHSE standards across manufacturing industries.
    • Proficiency with:
      • PLC Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell
      • HMI Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Ignition
    • Working knowledge of major industry standards such as S88, S95, and S101.

    Communication & Digital Skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • High computer literacy, including proficient use of the Internet and Microsoft Office.
    • English at a Professional Working Proficiency level.
