The Role
Welding Supervisors combine management skills with an extensive knowledge of welding processes and welding economics to plan, staff, monitor, and safely deliver welding projects according to schedule and budget.
Welding supervisors are responsible for overseeing the work of their team. To ensure that each member is performing their job correctly and in accordance with company standards. In addition to this, may also be tasked with developing new welding techniques or training employees on how to use new equipment or technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to General Manager
- Responsible for the supervision of all the manufacturing welders and Heat treatment technicians, day, and night shift to ensure they are working efficiently and that planned times are achieved.
- To monitor and advise manufacturing welders and Heat treatment technicians on all technical aspects.
- Ensure that manufacturing welders adhere to the parameters of the weld procedures.
- To ensure that manufacturing welders and Heat treatment technicians are qualified and trained for the job requirements. To identify training needs as these, arise and liaise with HR so training can be provided.
- To co-ordinate staff holidays ensuring that the department is adequately manned
- The assign jobs to the welders and heat treatment technicians, the workload will come through collaboration with the Projects team.
- To ensure the quality of welding in the manufacturing welding department
- To maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the manufacturing welding department and participate in housekeeping walks.
- To ensure the machinery and equipment in the manufacturing welding area is in good working order and liaises with Maintenance as and when required.
- To specify new tooling and equipment as required for the manufacturing department.
- To ensure that welding consumables are available.

- Co-ordinate with Project Team and Welding Engineer to plan for new work ensuring that consumables, tools, and fixtures are available in advance.
- To co-ordinate with Welding Engineer as the need arises
- To contribute material to the weekly toolbox talks and delivers the information to his team.
- Ensure compliance with OSI Quality management system and prepare reports on daily manufacturing activities (if require)
- Perform all other reasonable duties as required by Manager.
- Participate, as required, in Quality and HSE audits from API and other external organisations.
- Ensure compliance with the Oil States Industries’ Quality Management System and HSE system.
The Person:
- High school diploma or equivalent in welding or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding engineering
- 2+ years supervisory experience in a production environment
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in a Manufacturing environment, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry.
- Proven track record in achieving target weld quality and performance with strong technical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- skilled in MIG, TIG, SAW welding processes.
- strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Applied knowledge of welding activities for all types of steels including carbon steel, stainless steel, high and low alloy steel.
- Knowledge of international codes such as API 1104, API RP5C6, API 5L, API 6A, API 16A, API 16F, API 16C, ASME Sec IX and AWS D1.1.
- Possess Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive, ability to provide innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
- Good command / highly proficient in spoken and written English and Indonesian Language
- Detail oriented
- Able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervisor and as part of a team.
- Able to effectively communicate with all members of their team from entry-level welders to senior engineers to provide direction and feedback as needed.
- Applicable for Indonesian Resident in Batam city.
