Responsibilities / Tasks

1. General Role Purpose

  • Lead the implementation of automation & electrical engineering activities for projects from contract signing to completion.

  • Ensure project delivery on time, on quality, and within budget, driving high customer satisfaction.

  • Handle technically complex projects (2–8 projects per year).

  • Apply, implement, and monitor adherence to the agreed project methodology.

  • Expected travel & commissioning: ~45% of the year.

  • Projects mainly in SEA, with possible extension to APAC.

  • Work independently or coordinate work with several other engineers depending on project size.

2. Operational Responsibilities

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the main contact point between the automation/electrical team and all relevant stakeholders.

  • Act as the technical referent for the project and the broader organization.

  • Participate in the preparation of technical offers, working with Sales and Business Development.

  • Ensure full compliance with: Customer specifications Functional analysis GEA norms Automation & electrical standards

Engineering & Documentation

  • Produce engineering documentation according to GEA procedures.

  • Manage contacts with GEA external suppliers for material procurement.

Panel & Site Execution

  • Supervise electrical panel assembly and FAT.

  • Supervise site electrical assembly and manage external assembly subcontractors.

  • Ensure fair and competitive tendering for cabinet manufacturing and site assembly vendors.

Testing & Commissioning

  • Perform IO tests, basic electrical measurements, and commissioning checks.

  • Constantly evaluate safety during commissioning activities.

Project Execution

  • Organize, coordinate, monitor, and control all electrical/automation engineering tasks within the project.

  • Implement the electrical & automation scope within budget, seeking cost improvements without compromising quality or timelines.

  • Protect GEA’s contractual interests related to engineering changes and site installations.

  • Contribute to improvements in project productivity and innovation within the discipline.

  • Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and technical alignment across teams.

  • Provide regular progress reporting to the Automation Project Leader / Project Manager.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
  • Solid expertise in electricity, automation, control systems, and pneumatics.
  • Hands-on proficiency in:
    • PLC Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell
    • HMI Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Ignition
  • Understanding of industry standards and methodologies, including hygienic design principles and QHSE requirements.
  • Familiarity with Project Management fundamentals, including:
    • Schedule management
    • Cost management
    • Time management
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts relevant to project execution.

Digital & Language Skills

  • Strong computer literacy, including effective use of the Internet and Microsoft Office tools.
  • English proficiency at a professional working level (written and verbal).
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
