DescriptionJob Overview:
The Associate MTO Engineer utilizes existing Material Takeoff procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Material Takeoff and Engineering.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to accurately determine the quantities of materials, equipment, and consumables needed for the project
- Utilize relevant software and tools to generate comprehensive MTO reports
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and resolve any discrepancies or inconsistencies in the MTO data
- Maintain accurate and updated MTO records throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist in the evaluation, selection, and qualification of suppliers and vendors
- Liaise with vendors to obtain quotes, clarify technical specifications, and negotiate competitive pricing
- Collaborate with procurement teams to expedite the procurement process, ensuring timely delivery of materials in accordance with project schedules
- Track and manage the status of purchase orders and communicate any changes or delays to all relevant stakeholders
- Create and maintain project documentation related to materials, including technical datasheets, certificates, and specifications
- Generate timely and accurate reports, such as progress reports, material status reports, and variance analysis reports
- Assist in preparing project presentations and contribute to project meetings as required
- Ensure compliance with project quality control and documentation standards
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and procurement professionals, to ensure seamless project execution
- Provide technical support and expertise to internal stakeholders regarding material specifications, availability, and alternatives
- Engage in regular communication to address project requirements, changes, and challenges
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall project performance
- Stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies relevant to the EPCI industry
- Take part in ongoing professional development initiatives and actively seek knowledge-sharing opportunities within the organization
QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
- 2 years of relevant experience in the EPCI industry, with a strong emphasis on material take-off activities
- Proficient in using MTO software/tools
- Solid understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies or challenges in material calculations
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and clearly convey technical requirements
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations in the EPCI industry
- Adaptability to changing priorities and willingness to take initiative in dynamic work environments
